PSLE ORAL MOCKENGLISH + CHINESE

A full PSLE Oral mock exam at home in English, Chinese, or both — timed, recorded, and scored.

Most children reach the exam hall in August having never done a full oral under real conditions. This is that rehearsal: timed preparation, Reading Aloud, then a stimulus-based conversation — a short video clip for Chinese, a photo for English — followed by a report you can actually act on.

For Chinese, the mock uses the 看录像会话 pattern parents worry about most: your child watches a 短片, then answers examiner-style questions instead of practising from a static picture.

How the mock works

The full exam, end to end — prep, two components, then one report.

1

Chinese 10 min · English 5 min

Preparation time

Before any recording starts, your child reads the passage and studies the stimulus — a short video clip (短片) for Chinese, a photo for English — exactly as in the real exam.

2

朗读 · scored live

Reading Aloud

Your child reads a P5/P6-level passage aloud. The AI scores pronunciation, fluency, expression and accuracy against the oral rubric.

3

会话 · three progressive questions

Conversation

An AI examiner asks three questions that build on the stimulus — moving from describing it to giving opinions, reasons and personal examples, the way a real examiner does.

4

Delivered after the mock

Scored report

A full report with a dimension-by-dimension breakdown, examiner-style coaching, and the one thing to practise before the next attempt.

What sets the Chinese mock apart

The Chinese conversation uses a real 短片video stimulus — the same video-based format SEAB has used since 2017. Most home practice tools still only show a static picture; ours doesn't. If you want the format background first, read the PSLE Chinese Oral exam format guide.

Based on the current PSLE oral structure: Reading Aloud plus Stimulus-based Conversation for English, and 朗读 plus 会话 based on a 录像短片 for Chinese.

Your child sits the mock under exam conditions — but you get the explanation: every dimension scored, what was strong, and the one thing to practise next. Below is a real sample for a Chinese oral mock.

Mock date

Overall score

38/50
回答清楚 Clear

Mei Ling is on track for a solid Chinese oral. Her ideas and examples are genuinely good — the marks to win back are mostly in delivery: steadier fluency when reading aloud, and fewer restarts in conversation.

朗读 Reading

15/20

会话 Conversation

23/30

朗读 Reading Aloud

15/20
语音 Pronunciation6/7

Tones were mostly accurate; a few third-tone words flattened near the end of longer sentences.

准确 Accuracy3/4

Read the passage faithfully, with two characters substituted and one skipped.

流利 Fluency3/5

Paused mid-phrase a few times and restarted one sentence, which broke the rhythm.

语调 Expression3/4

Clear but fairly even — little change in tone on the more expressive lines.

会话 Conversation

23/30
发音 Pronunciation5/6

Clear and easy to follow throughout the conversation.

流利 Fluency4/6

Answers came steadily but with some hesitation before the second and third questions.

内容 Content8/10

Relevant, specific examples — the point about helping a neighbour was well developed.

词汇 Vocabulary6/8

Everyday vocabulary used correctly; could reach for more precise topic words to lift the answer.

Strength · 内容 Content

Mei Ling backs her opinions with real, specific examples instead of vague generalities — exactly what examiners reward.

Focus area · 流利 Fluency

She has the ideas; the lost marks are in delivery. Rehearsing a slower, complete first sentence for each answer will cut the restarts.

Sample report — your child's will be personalised to their own answers and recording.

Chinese mock video stimulus

The Chinese mock includes a real video stimulus — the part most home practice misses.

Example mock video stimulus

In the Chinese mock, the short video clip belongs to the conversation component. Your child first completes Reading Aloud, then answers examiner-style questions based on the video. That makes this a closer rehearsal for 看录像会话 than picture-only home practice.

English mock photo stimulus

The English mock uses a real photograph — the picture-anchored format since the 2025 update.

English mock picture stimulus
Example mock photo stimulus

English follows the same two-part structure as Chinese: Reading Aloud first, then a Stimulus-based Conversation anchored to a real-life photograph — not a cartoon or a generic prompt. Questions build the same way, moving from describing the photo to opinions, reasons and personal examples.

What sets the English mock apart

The English Stimulus-based Conversation moved to a real-life photograph in the 2025 format update, replacing the old generic picture. Most home practice still treats the photo as an afterthought; the mock builds the whole conversation around it, the way the actual exam does.
